This hands-on cultural experience gives you the opportunity to create your own traditional mosaic lamp while learning about the craftsmanship, history and artistic traditions behind these iconic Turkish designs.

Located in the historic Fatih district of Istanbul, the workshop takes place in a welcoming and comfortable studio where experienced artisans will guide you through each stage of the process. From choosing colourful glass pieces to creating your own pattern, you will have the freedom to design a unique lamp that reflects your personal style.

No previous artistic experience is required. The workshop is suitable for beginners, couples, families, friends and groups looking for a different way to experience Istanbul beyond traditional sightseeing.

What to Expect

Your Istanbul Mosaic Lamp Workshop takes place in a centrally located studio in the historic Fatih district. Please arrive at the designated meeting point at least 15 minutes before your scheduled session.

Upon arrival, you will meet the experienced artisan who will introduce you to the basic techniques used to create a traditional Turkish mosaic lamp. You will learn how different coloured glass pieces are arranged to form decorative patterns and how the individual elements come together to create the distinctive appearance of Turkish mosaic lamps.

Once you have chosen your preferred colours and design, you will begin creating your own lamp. The artisan will guide you throughout the process and provide assistance whenever needed, while allowing you to work at your own pace and express your creativity.

As you work, you will have the opportunity to learn more about the history and cultural background of Turkish mosaic lamps and their place within Türkiye's artistic traditions.

The workshop takes place in a relaxed and friendly environment. Tea, coffee, water and handmade cookies are available throughout the experience, allowing you to enjoy a comfortable break while working on your creation.
