Places to See in Izmir

Konak Square 
Most of the touristic places are gathered in this square. Many places to see, such as Clock Tower of Izmir, Kordonboyu along the coast, Konak Yalı Mosque, Kemeraltı bazaar where many souvenirs are sold, Izmir Painting and Sculpture Museum for art-lovers, Basmane Train Station, Izmir Ataturk’s House and Museum, are located in İzmir - Konak.

Clock Tower
In 1901, it is a historical tower that was built by a French architect upon the order of Grand Vizier Mehmet Sait Paşa on the 25th anniversary of Sultan Abdülhamit inheriting the throne. It is 25-meters tall and has four fountains. Fine details in stone carvings and its architectural structure are worth to see. The clock on the tower was sent by Germany as a gift.

Konak Yalı Mosque
It is guessed that it was built in the middle 700s. It is located right next to the clock tower.

Konak Pier
This pier where Ferries sailing to Izmir Karşıyaka board passengers is a historical pier that must be seen. There are stores around it, where you can do shopping. 

Historical Lift
It was built by Jewish businessman Nesai Levi Bayraklı in 1907 in order to make it easy to go to Halil Rıfat Paşa Street, which is at 55 height. There is a sea view, which is worth to see while going up in the historical lift. 

Historical Kemeraltı Bazaar  
The historical bazaar where you can buy souvenirs must definitely be seen during Izmir visits. 

Key Museum 
It is located in Torbalı district that is approximately 46 km from Izmir. It is the largest automobile museum of Turkey, located on an area of 7,000 square meters. It is a unique museum where you can see the first productions of automobiles such as Mercedes, Ford, Porsche and BMW. 

Botanical Garden 
It was built in 1962 in order to protect many plants. You can see various dried and living plants together. 

 Izmir Natural Life Park  
It is one of the largest natural life parks in Europe.  In the park located in Çiğli, the best natural environment was tried to be provided for animals. 

İzmir Bird Paradise
İ
It accommodates more than 200 bird species. As it was on the migration route of birds, it is stated that tens of thousands birds visit here every year. There are huge numbers of flamingos and dalmatian pelicans. From the observation terraces, you can observe storks, shelducks, sternas, black-winged stilts, bee-eaters, penduline tits, oystercatchers and many other cute bird species.

Places to See around Izmir

Alaçatı
Alaçatı where people do windsurfing is one of the most beautiful holiday places in Izmir, with its stone houses and colorful streets. 

Aşıklar Şelalesi (Lovers’ Waterfall) 
Aşıklar Şelalesi offers a wonderful environment where you can be in touch with nature, located in Dikili with hot springs and thermal baths, where there is also a facility. You can do trekking here. 

Karagöl
Karagöl is a small and cute lake in the middle of green woods. It is a great place for the ones who want to spend time in touch with nature.

Bozdağ ski center  
It is 100 kilometers from Izmir city center. Snow thickness is approximately 3 meters. Starting from December until March, it is available for skiing here.

Gölcük Plateau
It took shape by tectonic movements. It is on the peak of Bozdağlar (Grey Mountains). It’s elevation from see is approximately 1100 meters and its depth is averagely 5 meters, and its perimeter length is 6850 meters.  It is worth to see with its green flora and its quite and calm environment.
