Museum visitor statistics was issued by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

Number of visitors to museums and archeological sites affiliated with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism reached 28 million 144 thousand 670 in 2018.

Most visited museum was Topkapı Palace Museum with 2 million 980 thousand 450 visitors.

The second most visited museum was Hagia Sophia.

Number of visitors to museums and archeological sites was 20 million 509 thousand 746 in 2017.

Mevlana placed 3rd
According to data, Hagia Sophia in Istanbul placed as the second most visited museum with 2 million 890 thousand 873 visitors. In 2018, 2 million 817 thousand 386 people visited Konya Mevlana Museum. Mevlana Museum was the third most visited museum.

Being one of the rarest natural sites of the world and famous with its travertines, Pamukkale Archeological Site placed on Ministry’s list as the fourth most visited place. 2 million 172 thousand 740 people visited Pamukkale in one year.

On the other hand, 1 million 543 thousand 690 people visited Efes Archeological Site in İzmir, which placed fifth among most visited places.

Places with many important values and natural beauties in Nevşehir and its surroundings have placed top 10 places visited most.

Efes Archeological Site was followed after Nevşehir Göreme Archeological Site (1 million 104 thousand 217 visitors), Çanakkale Troia Archeological Site (531 thousand 530 visitors), Nevşehir Kaymaklı Underground City (529 thousand 904 visitors), Aksaray Ihlara Valley Archeological Site (491 thousand 784 visitors), Nevşehir Hacıbektaş Museum (443 thousand 160 visitors).
